ETF overlap checker: find what your ETFs hold twice

A world ETF plus an S&P 500 ETF plus a technology ETF looks diversified, yet the same few US companies can end up a large part of the money. LTP measures that overlap from the funds' actual holdings.

What it measures

Fund overlap: for each pair of funds, the share of one that the other also holds, flagged when it passes a limit you choose. Single-name concentration: the companies that reach the largest weight once all funds are added up, with how much comes through each fund. Effective number of holdings: how many equal-sized positions your portfolio really behaves like.

Why overlap matters

Overlap is not wrong in itself, but it means extra funds may add cost and complexity without adding diversification, and a portfolio can end up far more dependent on a handful of companies, one sector or one country than intended.

How to use it

  1. Load your positions (Interactive Brokers statement or by hand).
  2. Open Concentration: checks at the top flag overlaps and anything above your limits.
  3. Use Selection to find and backtest alternatives.
